yesterday, after doing a ton of research on the elusive macaron i finally attempted to make the absolutely amazing french almond macaron :D am really happy to say that it was a success (beginner's luck, i say) and though the process was daunting and tiring, the end result was oooooh lala!

mini macarons: lemon curd and chocolate ganache... yummm.
and of course there was the yolks to deal with:
lavender shortbread!

the picture's kinda crappy ( i can either blame the camera, or my shaky hands) but this is the best shot, which doesn't say a lot about my phototaking skills. but looks can be deceiving, and it actually tastes not bad! far better than the attempt number one. so yay!
and this is how i spend whatever free time i have!
